Oh Lolli, Lollipop

It's been a couple of months since we started using the Lollipop baby monitor and as promised I'm giving all the details on why and what we love about this baby camera.

With Rowan I needed a new baby camera for her nursery as I wasn't loving the one we used a few years prior with Mila. Lollipop was kind enough to let us try this camera out and I am so happy I was given the opportunity. The Lollipop stood out to me for a number of reasons, but what initially caught my eye is it's sleek, yet fun look unlike the other monitors I was scrolling through. It looks pretty, I think the prettiest on the market if that is even a thing!

It was simple to assemble (easy to follow picture instructions) that I didn't even need to ask for help from my husband, so there's a win right off the bat. I downloaded their free app to my phone connecting to our wifi. Made from baby safe high quality silicone (lead and phthalate free), the Lollipop camera comes in a few color options, again differentiating itself by the friendly appearance. I'm a detail oriented person and it's modern simple and clean looking packaging caught my eye (you know you are in your thirties when....). This monitor is also so SMART. For example, it can distinguish between regular noises and your baby's actual crying/noises, that is so EXCITING (the things that make us moms happy, seriously). The app will send you noise/environmental alerts to your phone which is a nice extra to ease any worries about what's going on in that cute little nursery of yours. As long as your smart device has bluetooth Lollipop is compatible. There's an Alexa integration as well, and Lollipop understands that privacy is a priority with a Privacy Mode setting as well.

There are so many features included that I've listed out my opinions of perks and wishes I'm excited to highlight for you. Please note these are my personal independent opinions from experience thus far.

What I Love:

  • True crying detection

  • Easy assembly

  • Cross detection

  • LED night vision - and CLEAR. This was a deal breaker for me, our prior monitor was grainy and low quality at night.

  • Live view with sharing (both my husband and I can check on her from our phones or with the ipad), provides instant app alerts

  • Built in sound machine - selection of music and white noise with the option to specify how long to play the music for. Ro's favorite = the vacuum

  • Sleep tracking - Option to incorporate a sleep tracking feature

  • Background play - I use this feature overnight, acts as a traditional monitor and continues to showcase noises even when phone is on lock

  • Two way talk

  • Cord guards - ideal if you are mounting the camera, an extra level of safety to protect baby from any dangling cords

  • Friendly pricing in comparison to other top of the line monitors. And this one looks more appealing to littles, not an intimidating security camera looking device.

What's Missing:

  • Can zoom in and out but does not move/pan across the room. The workaround for this would be to mount it above your baby's crib to gain a full wider view.

  • Additional costs - the multiple extras/subscriptions are nice in a way that you can customize it to your needs and what works best for you and your family, but also acts as a con wishing some of these features were a built in standard. It can be pretty useful as your baby grows, for example the number of features you may need now for your newborn is not going to be the same situation as what you'll want for a 2 year old toddler.

Overall I'm totally in awe of this monitor. I feel the second time around I am less "picky" (still paranoid when my baby is not in an arms reach sleeping, hey you PP anxiety) but this certainly checks off all the boxes of what I need and I would recommend this camera. I can even see us transitioning it eventually into the girls playroom, or when Rowan moves into a big girl room. I honestly can't get over how versatile it is with the different positions you can bend and mold it into for positioning options. I showcase a few of these on my Instagram "Things" highlight. My toddler thinks it is the cutest as well asking why she doesn't have "this eyeball friend" in her room. Looks like I may need to purchase one more.
