Crib to Queen - Toddler Room Transformation

And just like that, our little babe is ready to take on her very first big girl room. It's funny how simple transitions can feel emotional, like the last time your little one sleeps in a crib. We're always told about the firsts, but damn when those lasts sneak up on you, those are hard to swallow. And yes, I felt sad about this last, my husband may have laughed at me, but when I feel, I feel emotions full on.

With the crib out (perfect timing as it's now all set up in the nursery), our girl now has the coziest big girl bed; opting for a queen size so she can have it long term was our goal too. I did a lot of research online looking at one too many mattress sets, or bedding options; who knew mattress shopping could make you feel SO overwhelmed, too many options. We love the mattress we went with, if you're looking for recommendations I'd be happy to share.

My vision for her room makeover was soft colors, dreamy floral prints, and of course a splash of girly. I typically have an eye for neutrals only when it comes to home decor, but with this project I wanted to be sure she had color and something fun. One of my favorite IG mom bloggers, @huntersofhappiness, shares the best DIY projects and from her sprouted my inspiration of adding in an accent wall. We went back and forth between wallpaper or board and batten, but once I spotted a wallpaper she has in her daughter's room, my mind was made. Now to get my very own Chip, my hubby, on board with being my helper here. As soon as he sees me measuring a wall, he knows something is up.

The wallpaper (peel and stick) application was easier than we had anticipated, it was an overall easy process from Loomwell -- first purchase from them and very pleased! The wall that her bed is up against is pushed back from the other part of this side of the room so we thought it would make the perfect spot for an accent wall. The quality of this paper is really good, the instructions are clear, and it didn't take too much time.

And wa-lahhh, this may be my favorite room in the house now. She had the biggest smile on her face when she saw it all complete and said, "it's so beautiful!"... seeing your little one light up like that is the best feeling, all the things we do, is. so. worth. it.
